The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last year, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they get to make nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume support along with financial and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even showed our group their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
