What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Eveready Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Richmond always talks about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization is owned, operated, developed, and supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be NATE-certified. The certification is voluntary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified by NATE.

It’s important to Eveready Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our technicians are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and professional technicians into your home. To make sure technicians meet these criteria, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Eveready Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only specific areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE test candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the talent areas listed below:
